About the Alliance of Health Disparities
The Alliance for Health Equity represents healthcare professionals
of color whose mission is twofold.
Nationally, our mission is to educate health care providers, patients,
and decision maker’s issues of health disparities and to promote the
general welfare, better treatment of, and greater access to healthcare
for racial and ethnic minorities. While notable progress in the overall
health of the United States has occurred there are still continuing
health disparities in the occurrences of illnesses, conditions and deaths
experienced by African Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans, Alaskan
Natives, Asians and Pacific Islanders, compared to the Caucasian population.
On an international level, we have an opportunity to begin to collaborate
with other non-government organizations, such as the International Council
of Nurses, (ICN) and discuss/offer some solutions as governments look
to reform health systems around the world.
